Climate Steps is an established 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and community focused on providing information about impactful individual action: personal, social, political, industry-related and more. It is a global learning hub that is a combination of people’s stories about fighting climate change, science-based pages summarizing potential climate action steps by topic and discussing their relative impacts, and pages with planning tools, templates, and other resources. The social media communities, especially the Facebook community (but we are looking to build out to BlueSky), provide a discussion platform and support for individuals who want to take action/steps on Climate Change. The goal is to provide not only an overview of the diverse actions people can take, including serving specific actions from our partner Earth Hero, but then, as a hub, to bring people to the best resources to take action. But information is always evolving, and we are looking for interns as well as subject experts to help keep us abreast of the latest, science-based data We are all volunteer-run at the moment, but growing fast. We need assistance in many tiers. Here’s one. Research Subject Intern (3 for the Fall semester will be accepted). Your work includes a researching one of the following, suited for your preferred niche: Stuff/Consumerism type of actions; Climate Communication; Outside (Outdoors) actions, Out-and-about actions (i.e., on the town); Updating our Transportation page; Updating our Carbon Calculators page, and determining the latest science on whether they are really useful; creating a University student action page, OR writing a Protests & Petitions initial overview page, among others. On your chosen subject, with our feedback on how to do so successfully, you will write on article for our website write or update one one-pager on actions for our partner, the Earth Hero app creating one social media post write a blurb on it for our quarterly newsletter and distribute. We are all volunteer run, and are taking on three interns who will work as a team – running each deliverable by the other two for feedback before submitting. Strong, demonstrable, verbal and written communication skills Strong ability to guide topical discussions and edit drafts accordingly. Demonstration of ability to write excellent social media posts (not required) Dedication to fighting climate change through grassroots efforts.
