Japan uses two documents: the rirekisho (standardised CV form) and the shokumukeirekisho (detailed work history document). The rirekisho follows a rigid format — name, photo, address, education, work history, licences, and a "shibou douki" (reason for applying) section. Photos are mandatory and must be professional (suit, neutral background). Japanese employers expect handwritten rirekisho for traditional companies, though typed forms are increasingly accepted at modern firms. Use the Japanese era calendar (Reiwa) where possible. International candidates should submit both Japanese and English versions if possible. Hanko (personal seal) may be requested.
