Dear Pentagram Partners,
I am applying for the Graphic Designer position at Pentagram. For me, Pentagram represents the gold standard of design that is both conceptually rigorous and visually brave — it has been a reference throughout my career.
Over six years at wieden+kennedy and then independently, I have led brand identity projects for clients including Nike, Patagonia, and a portfolio of emerging food & beverage brands. My recent highlight was a complete rebrand for a Century-old Los Angeles radio station — a project where I navigated deep institutional history while creating a visual identity bold enough to compete in a digital-first media landscape. The rebrand was featured in Communication Arts and led to a 40% increase in social media following within the first quarter.
I work fluidly across print, digital, and motion, and I bring a rigorous research and conceptual foundation to every project before touching a single pixel. I'm drawn to Pentagram's model of partner-led, deeply collaborative work and would thrive in that environment.
My portfolio is linked below. I'd love the opportunity to discuss my work and learn more about the team. Thank you.
Best,
Leo Martínez
