I am delighted to apply for the AP English Language & Composition Teacher position at Grady High School. With seven years of experience teaching English in Atlanta public schools, I am passionate about fostering critical thinking, voice, and a love of literature in every student I teach.
At Midtown High School, I developed and piloted a project-based AP curriculum that increased our AP English pass rate from 61% to 84% over three years. I introduced a student-led literary magazine that now publishes 40+ student writers annually and has won regional recognition. Beyond the classroom, I mentored 25+ students through the college essay process, with a 92% acceptance rate to their first-choice institutions.
Grady's reputation for rigorous academics and its diverse, community-rooted culture is deeply aligned with my own teaching philosophy. I believe every student has a powerful story to tell, and my role is to give them the tools and confidence to tell it.
