Job Description Position Summary: Husky Health Center at the University of Washington, has an outstanding opportunity for two (2) full-time Medical Assistants (MA) \[Medical Assistant (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)\] to join our growing clinical staff. About this Opportunity : Reporting to the Medical Assistant Supervisor, the positions will provide support to providers in the direct care and treatment of ambulatory patients in a clinic setting. This is a Classified, 100% FTE, 11 - 12 month position Salary Range - $4,900 – 7,010/month Key Responsibilities: Direct Clinic/Patient Care – 95% Room patients and take vital signs, perform injections Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider Act as a liaison between patient, family and providers Assist provider with procedures and medical exams and reconcile records Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values Assist in transporting patients in Husky Health and to ER as required Perform audiograms, tympanograms, visual acuity, EKG tests, and ear lavage per clinician's request Participate and comply with the "Point of Care" Competency Program Fit patient with DME and ensure necessary paperwork is completed Package lab specimens and deliver them to the Lab Dept Follow-up with patients regarding lab results, with guidance from providers Other clinic support – 5% Prepare, stock, monitor supplies, and clean exam rooms and equipment Submit medication prior authorization Perform other related duties as required ​ Required Qualifications To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration. Minimum Qualifications: Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board Equivalent education/experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration Applicants who do not meet these qualifications WILL NOT be forwarded to the Hiring Manager. Legal Requirements: Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation during the probationary period. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in the termination of employment. Additional Qualifications: Recent experience providing direct patient care in an ambulatory or emergency medicine department/acute care setting Knowledge of current infection control standards and practices Excellent communication, organization and customer service skills Familiarity with front offices processes, electronic medical record systems, (EPIC) and sports medicine, outpatient clinical care and Ob/Gyn Comply with privacy and confidentiality rules as required by State and Federal laws Demonstrates behaviors that support the UW Medicine “Patients Are First Service” Guidelines Typical Working Conditions: All HHC staff members are considered essential employees and are expected to report to work during UW closures for severe weather, natural disaster, or other emergency conditions.
