Job Description UW Medical Center - Montlake has an outstanding opportunity for experienced Vascular Access Registered Nurse. This position is part time, 62.50% FTE. WORK SCHEDULE Day Shifts 10-hour shifts 0900-1930 PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES * UWMC serves a wide variety of patient populations all of which our Vascular Access Team supports including: • Inpatient acute care and critical Care • Outpatient areas: Clinics, Limited Stay, ED, & Infusion Areas • Cardiology • Oncology including Stem Cell Transplant • High risk Maternal Infant Care • Solid organ transplant o Primary responsibilities include: • Placement of complex peripheral venous access, including ultrasound-guided PIV insertion. • Consultation for all CVC troubleshooting including PICC, non-tunneled CVCs, tunneled CVCs, HD catheters, port-a-caths etc. • Monitoring CVC insertion in acute care departments. • Consult with medical providers to provide patients with appropriate venous access while supporting vein preservation • Formal and informal vascular access teaching opportunities o PICC insertion training (new) is generally out of scope for this position, though may be considered on a case by case basis depending on the needs of the team at the time o Neonatal care * REQUIREMENTS 2 years of recent Registered Nursing work experience in an ICU Department, Med Surg Excellent IV Insertion Skills Vascular access expertise highly preferred. PICC insertion experience preferred. ACLS BLS Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State or valid Multistate license Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.
