Employee Contract Type: Local - Fixed Term Employee (Fixed Term) Job Description: The Project Accountant is responsible for providing high quality, accurate and consistent Financial support for the project. He/she will also support the financial procurement to achieve its optimal usage and eventual reporting to WVL management and stakeholders. Moreover, the accountant will ensure a smooth payment process and timely coordination of financial operational procedures such as planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluation, Project closure and audit, etc. in line with WVL Policies and Procedure as well as Financial Manual (FM). Major Responsibilities Ensure project teams have a clear understanding of grant financial requirements and promote compliance throughout project implementation. Maintain strong internal controls and ensure adherence to organizational policies, donor regulations, and financial procedures. Lead the project team on accurate budget utilization as per the plan on a monthly basis. Ensure financial reports are prepared with professional competence and provide information to the project team /WVL management on a regular basis. Supervise finances at project/ village level, including training of project partners/ mobilizers/Community leaders Support project teams in the effective utilization of grant funds in compliance with donor financial guidelines and requirements. Prepare and monitor project cash flow forecasts in close coordination with project teams to ensure efficient financial planning and fund management. Assist in managing procurement processes to ensure compliance with the Participatory Strategic Sourcing (PSS) framework and donor financial guidelines Required qualifications, experience & competencies Bachelor’s degree in Finance, or part qualification from recognized accounting body (CA Sri Lanka, CIMA) Minimum of 05 years of experience in accounting, finance, or grant financial management in a similar capacity. Knowledge and experience in managing grant and donor-funded projects, including compliance with donor financial requirements. Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Sinhala/Tamil. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and other relevant financial management systems. “WV has a zero tolerance for incidents of violence or abuse against children or adults, including sexual exploitation or abuse, committed either by employees or others affiliated with our work.
