Amazon South Africa is building its Retail Operations and Initiatives function. This team owns theend-to-end product pipeline: the path from a product being listed, to being buyable, priced,discoverable, and delivered. In this role, you will identify and resolve the process defects and systemgaps that prevent products from reaching customers, working across vendor management, supply chain, in-stock, and technology teams to build scalable solutions.You will use data to diagnose operational friction, define governance mechanisms that persistbeyond individual effort, and drive cross-functional accountability for supply chain and vendorexperience outcomes. The product management team covers Supply Chain and Vendor Experience,Selection and Catalog health, Pricing, Delivery, and value-add productsKey job responsibilitiesLead cross-functional initiatives across vendor experience, supply chain, and selectionhealth, partnering with Retail Business Services, Vendor Managers, In-Stock, and technologyteamsDiagnose root causes of operational defects through data analysis and process mapping;develop and scale solutions that address systemic gaps rather than individual symptomsDefine key performance metrics and build governance mechanisms (intake processes, triagecadences, escalation paths) for ongoing monitoring and continuous improvementBuild standard operating procedures and drive adoption across multiple business teams,converting manual processes into repeatable, automated workflowsPrepare and lead business reviews that communicate progress, root cause findings, andprioritized recommendations to senior leadershipA day in the lifeYou start your day reviewing operational metrics to identify where friction is building across theproduct pipeline, then prioritise what to fix first. You might facilitate a cross-functional workingsession to map a root cause, then translate the outcome into a requirements brief for a technologyteam. You spend time in the data regularly; building queries, validating assumptions, and turningoperational noise into a clear signal. Throughout the week, you prepare business reviews thattranslate complexity into recommendations for senior leadership. No two weeks look the same; theproblems shift across supply chain, vendor experience, selection, and delivery depending on where the biggest customer impact sits.About the teamWe are a small, high-ownership team building the operational backbone of Amazon's South Africaretail store. The function is new; the mechanisms, frameworks, and governance that mature storestake for granted are ours to design from scratch. You will work alongside product managers covering buyability, vendor experience, supply chain economics, catalog quality, and pricing. The team spans operations, technical, business, and finance disciplines. Joining means shaping how an emerging store operates at a foundational level, not inheriting a playbook Basic Qualifications: - 3+ years of technical product or program management experience- Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition- Experience working with Excel, reporting tools, and large-scale data mining tools, such as Power BI, Python, SQL, or Tableau, or experience using financial models, KPIs, and data analysis to inform business decisions with proven business impact (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits)- Experience in e-commerce, retail or advertising, or experience in logistics Preferred Qualifications: - Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps- Experience building operational frameworks or governance mechanisms from scratch in a greenfield or emerging-market environment- Advanced proficiency with Python, VBA, or equivalent automation tools beyond standard reportingAmazon is an equal opportunities employer, and we value your passion to discover, invent, simplify and build.
